Arc Furnace Electrodes Description
Arc furnace electrodes are mainly used to carry electricity, which melts scrap metal and steel in electric arc furnaces. As an increasing share of the world's steel is produced using electric arc furnaces, secondary steelmaking is becoming a major consumer of graphite electrodes. In addition, graphite electrode is also used in smelting products in smelting furnaces, non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and even in the waste recycling industry.
According to the requirements of the furnace and smelting production, graphite electrodes are produced with various designs, the forces which are regular to the strength. In addition, there is high power and ultra-high-strength, and are machined to diameters from 75mm to 800mm and lengths up to 2900mm.

Tips of Arc Furnace Electrodes
Speaking about the technical characteristics of the Arc graphite electrode, it is worth noting the following parameters, namely:
- The electrical resistivity of the electrode, measured in μΩ*m, varies from 9.0 to 10.5 for connection 8.5 and from 8.0 to 9.0 for connection 7.5;
- The mechanical bending strength, measured in MPa, varies from 6.4 to 7.8 for connection 13 and from 9.0 to 10 for connection 15;
- The elastic modulus, measured in GPa, does not exceed 9.3 for connection 14 and 9 for connection 13.7;
- The content of ash impurities does not exceed 0.5% for compound 0.3 and 0.5% for compound 0.3;
- Bulk density, measured in g/cm³, must be at least 1.52 for compound 1.68 and between 1.56 and 1.62 for compound 1.7;
- The thermal coefficient of linear expansion, measured in ×10-6/C, should not exceed 2.9 for connection 2.8 and 2.4 for connection 2.2.
- The standard diameter of the EG/RP graphite electrode varies from 300 to 600 millimeters.
