What Is Calcined Petroleum Coke?

Calcined petroleum coke (CPC) is a high-purity form of carbon that is produced by the thermal treatment (calcining) of green petroleum coke (GPC), which itself is a byproduct of oil refining. The process of calcination involves heating the green petroleum coke to high temperatures (typically around 1200 to 1400 degrees Celsius) in the absence of air, which drives off volatile materials, resulting in a dense and porous carbon material.

CPC is known for its high carbon content (usually around 98-99%) and low levels of impurities, making it an essential raw material in various industrial applications.
