Silicon-calcium alloy is a composite alloy material made up of silicon, calcium, iron and other trace elements. In the steel industry, it's mostly used as a deoxidiser and desulfuriser.
Compared to other deoxidisers used in steelmaking, the calcium and silicon in the silicon-calcium alloy really stick to oxygen, as well as sulfur and nitrogen. This makes it a great choice as a deoxidiser and desulfuriser.
When you're smelting steel, adding the right amount of silicon-calcium alloy not only gets rid of the oxides but also makes it easier to separate the molten steel from the other materials. This improves the quality of the steel and makes the process more efficient.
