Why Is Silicon Slag Used in The Production Of Iron And Steel?

Silicon slag contains a certain amount of silicon cell. You can send it back to the furnace to re-crystallize and purify it. After that, you can reuse the silicon material, so you can make the most of the silicon slag. The great thing about silicon slag is that it's really cheap, which means it reduces the cost of steel smelting and makes things more efficient for manufacturers. So, it's no surprise that silicon slag is now a key player in iron refining and steel casting.

There are two types: industrial silicon slag and ferrosilicon slag.Ferrosilicon slag is the slag purified from the ladle in the production of ferrosilicon. It's basically the same as ferrosilicon, except for the impurities. You can send it back to the furnace and melt it again to make ferrosilicon, which you can then use in steel mills to remove oxygen from steel.

Silicon slag can raise the furnace temperature well, increase the fluidity of molten iron, effectively discharge slag, improve grade, improve the viscosity and cutting ability of castings.

And in the production of stainless steel using electric stainless steel refining furnaces, it's used as a reducing agent to boost productivity and product yield.
