Industrial pure titanium and most titanium alloys can be welded by themselves or each other. Depending on the titanium manufacturing equipment, corresponding corrosion-resistant alloys can be used for supplementary welding in some areas, which will make the application and life of the equipment more reasonable.
For example, corrosion-resistant alloys such as titanium target alloy and titanium-molybdenum alloy are welded on the pure titanium flange sealing surface. It not only reduces the cost but also plays a good role in preventing crevice corrosion. However, titanium cannot be welded with other metals, otherwise it will easily form brittle intermetallic compounds, causing the weld to break. Therefore, when it is necessary to connect with other metals, only welding, brazing, explosion welding or threaded connection can be used.
The tensile strength of industrial pure titanium and some titanium alloys decreases with increasing temperature. When the temperature reaches 250°C, its tensile strength is almost half of that at room temperature. Therefore, when calculating the strength of titanium equipment, you must choose Strength limit at design temperature.
