Ferrosilicon (FeSi), an alloy of iron and silicon, has many applications in steel production and casting, particularly as a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferrous alloys. FeSi contributes an increase in hardness and deoxidising properties of iron steel products whilst improving strength and quality.
