In the steel manufacturing process, ferrosilicon is used to remove oxygen and mix with other metals to stop the deoxidation process. Adding silicon to steel can make it stronger, harder, more elastic, and more permeable. In cast iron casting, it is used as a ball mill agent and alloying agent, especially in the casting of a particular cast iron. Adding ferrosilicon to cast iron can prevent carbide formation and promote graphite precipitation and concretization. Due to this, the mechanical strength of cast iron becomes equal to the strength of steel.
