The raw materials for smelting High Purity Silicon 2202 are mainly silica and carbonaceous reductants.

 

Due to the strict restriction of aluminium, calcium and iron content in industrial silicon, the requirements for raw materials are particularly strict. Silica in the SiO2 content of >99.0%, Al2O3 content <0.3%, Fe2O3 content <0.15%, CaO content <0.2%, MgO content <0.15%; particle size of 15 ~ 80mm. selection of carbonaceous reductant is based on the principle of: high fixed carbon, low ash, good chemical activity. Usually low ash petroleum coke or bituminous coke is used as the reducing agent.

However, due to these two kinds of coke resistivity is small, poor reactivity, and therefore must be matched with low ash, resistivity and reactivity of charcoal (or wood) instead of part of the petroleum coke. In order to make the charge sintered, should also be matched with part of the low ash bituminous coal. It must be pointed out that too much or all with charcoal, not only will increase product costs, but also will make the furnace disorder, such as due to poor sintering of the material surface caused by stabbing fire collapse, difficult to form a high-temperature reaction zone, the bottom of the furnace is easy to open up into the SiC layer, iron out of the difficulties.
