  Silicon metal 2202, also known simply as silicon metal, is a type of ferroalloy. It has a metallic shine and grey-black colour. It is used to enhance the physical and chemical properties of other metals. In aluminium die-casting, for example, it reduces shrinkage and improves the surface finish, making it ideal for complex components such as engine blocks and electronic device housings.
