Ferro silicon magnesium (FeSiMg) is a widely used alloy in the steel industry, known for its ability to improve the properties and performance of steel.
Production Process
Raw Material Selection: The company meticulously selects high-grade silicon, magnesium, and iron ores as the primary raw materials.
Smelting: The raw materials are smelted in a submerged arc furnace (SAF). The SAF operates at extremely high temperatures, facilitating the reduction of the ores and the formation of FeSiMg.
Alloying: The molten FeSiMg is alloyed with additional elements, such as sulfur, to achieve the desired chemical composition and properties.
Casting: The molten alloy is cast into molds and allowed to solidify, forming ingots.
Crushing and Screening: The ingots are crushed and screened to obtain the desired particle size distribution of 5-30 mm.

Nodular lron Production: FeSilg is a crucial additive in the production of nodular or ductile iron, which ischaracterized by its enhanced ductility, toughness, and strength. The alloy contains a high percentage ofmagnesium (typically 4-6%) along with silicon and iron. When added to the molten iron, FesiMg reacts withsulfur and oxygen impurities, resulting in the formation of magnesium oxide (MgO) and magnesium sulfide(MgS). These byproducts create favorable conditions for the formation of graphite nodules duringsolidification, preventing the formation of brittle flakes or lamellar graphite. The nodules in ductile ironimprove its mechanical properties and make it more suitable for applications requiring high strength andductility, such as automotive components, pipes, and machinery parts.
