Classification of ferroalloys

With the development of modern science and technology, various industries have higher and higher requirements on the varieties and performance of steel, thus putting forward higher requirements on ferroalloys. There are many varieties of ferroalloys and many classification methods, generally classified according to the following methods:

(1)According to the classification of main elements in ferroalloys, it can be divided into: silicon, manganese, chromium, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, molybdenum and other series of ferroalloys.

(2) According to the classification of carbon content in ferroalloys, it can be divided into: high carbon, medium carbon, low carbon, micro carbon, ultra micro carbon and other varieties.

(3) According to the classification of production methods, it can be divided into: blast furnace ferroalloys, electric furnace ferroalloys, extra-furnace method (metal heat method) ferroalloys, vacuum solid state reduction method ferroalloys, converter ferroalloys, electrolytic ferroalloys and so on. In addition, there are special ferroalloys such as oxide briquette and fever ferroalloy.

(4) According to the classification of two or more alloying elements contained in multiple ferroalloys, the main varieties are silicon aluminium alloy, silicon calcium alloy, silicon manganese aluminium alloy, silicon calcium aluminium alloy, silicon calcium barium alloy, silicon aluminium barium calcium alloy and so on.

Among the three major ferroalloy series of silicon, manganese and chromium, ferrosilicon, silicomanganese and ferrochrome are the varieties with the largest output.
