Silicon-carbon alloy is an alloy composed of silicon and carbon, also known as high-carbon silicon.
High-carbon ferrosilicon is ferrosilicon with a high carbon content. High-carbon ferrosilicon is commonly used in steelmaking furnaces. For example, as a new type of powerful composite deoxidizer, it can also be used for tempering ordinary steel, alloy steel and special steel. In addition, as a heating agent, it can also replace the more expensive traditional heating agents in converter and flat steelmaking.
High-carbon ferrosilicon is a commonly used deoxidiser that has the following advantages: it does not produce a hydrogen source during the deoxidation process, ensuring safety and reliability; carbon and silicon are important elements that determine the function of steel, and high-carbon ferrosilicon not only reacts with the oxygen in the molten steel. In terms of deoxidation, the remaining unoxidised carbon and silicon can also be dissolved in the molten steel, increasing the silicon and carbon content, achieving the effect of killing two birds with one stone. In order to obtain steel with a qualified chemical composition and ensure the quality of the steel, deoxidation should be carried out during steelmaking. The chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very strong, so ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation in steelmaking. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel.
