Advantages Of High-carbon Silicon

High-carbon silicon is a new metallurgical material that has emerged due to the rapid development of the metallurgical industry. It is cheaper than traditional metallurgical materials, but can be used instead of traditional metallurgical materials such as ferrosilicon and silicon carbide. It has long been used by steelmakers to replace metallurgical materials such as ferrosilicon.

1. Advantages of deoxidisation of silicon-carbon alloys
Silicon-carbon alloys contain silicon, and when added to the steel-making process, the silicon in the alloys reacts with oxygen to deoxidise the molten steel and improve the hardness and quality of the steel. Silicon in silicon-carbon alloys also has a good affinity with oxygen, so the molten steel after being added to the alloys also has the characteristic of not splashing.

2. The silicon-carbon alloy has the advantage of slag collection
The silicon-carbon alloy also has the advantage of slag collection. Putting a certain proportion of silicon-carbon alloy into the molten steel allows the oxides in the steelmaking process to quickly agglomerate, which facilitates filtration and makes the molten steel purer. This greatly improves the density and hardness of the steel.

3. The advantage of silicon-carbon alloy in raising the furnace temperature
Silicon-carbon alloy is a good temperature-resistant material. Adding it to the steel-making process can raise the furnace temperature, increase the conversion rate of the ferroalloy, and accelerate the reaction rate of the molten steel with the elements.
