Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cored Wire

I: Advantages

1. The cost of core wire spheroidization is 10% lower than the cost of spheroidizing agent. One roll of spheroidizing wire (2400 m) takes about 24 m to process 1 ton. One roll can hold 100 tons of iron. One ton of ballast can handle 83 tons of iron.


2. Requires filling and weighing of the spheroidizing agent, half day and half day physical labor, and factors such as drowsiness and fatigue of the workers during the operation. Core line does not require manual filling and weighing process, saving labor cost.

3. There is a dam at the bottom of the spheronizer spheronization bag. After more than ten furnaces, it needs to be handled manually once. It requires half of the manual labor that is not required for cored lines.

4. All the data of feed spheronization are set and do not need to be changed at any time. Spheronization requires manual handling and is prone to errors. Losses due to human error are avoided by using cored wire.

5. Spheronization facilitates dust collection (fumes and dust are sucked away during processing at the spheronization station), and the pollution is far less than that of spheronizer. It is more in line with the requirements of environmental protection.

6. After spheronization, the sphericity is high, the roundness of graphite ball is high, and the number of graphite is high.

II: Disadvantages

1. The spheroidizing to pouring time of core wire cannot exceed 13 minutes. Therefore, compared with the spheroidizing to pouring time of spheroidizing agent, the cored thread needs more accurate control of the time.

2. Castings made with spheroidized threads are prone to pinholes and shrinkage. The reason is caused by high magnesium. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the proper magnesium content of the cored thread according to the production of the castings.
