Silicon manganese nitride is an indispensable raw material in the steel industry. It can be added as a deoxidizer and alloying element additive during smelting to improve the quality of steel, increase hardness, ductility, toughness, wear resistance, etc., and improve the mechanical properties of steel.

The mass fraction of manganese in silicon manganese nitride is 40%-50%. Manganese and sulfur can form high melting point MnS, which eliminates the harmful effects of sulfur to a certain extent. Manganese has good deoxidizing ability and can combine with FeO in the steel to form MnOf and enter the slag, thereby improving the quality of the steel, especially reducing the brittleness of the steel and increasing the strength and hardness of the steel. Therefore, manganese is a beneficial element in steel. In high-quality carbon structural steel, the normal content of manganese is 0.5%-0.8%, and in structural steel with high manganese content, it can reach 0.7%-1.2%.

The nitrogen content in silicon manganese nitride is generally 12%-32%. It is a new steel-making alloy additive for the production of high-nitrogen steel, special alloy steel, and stainless steel alloy additives. Nitrogen is evenly added to the molten steel. During the rolling process, nitrogen is analyzed at the grain boundaries to form compounds such as nitrogen and carbon, which play a role in refinement, strengthening and solid solution strengthening. It greatly improves the yield strength and tensile strength of the steel and ensures the plasticity of the steel. And the toughness does not decrease while ensuring the performance, which plays an important role in smelting high value-added steel types.
